Fragrance Story

In November 2015 a friend asked me to capture the scent of melancholy, citing the article The Case for Melancholy from The New York Times. I drew on my own experience of saudade as I worked on countless compositions in celebration of longing. Iota is a melancholy nostalgia for something that perhaps has not even happened. Inspired by The Hope Blister, this natural perfume is a reminder of when one’s heart keeps breaking and rebuilding itself. A year later I presented my friend with her sample: “I love it.”
